Content Marketing Search Engine Optimization

Search engine optimization is the holy grail for most websites, as they try and climb the Google ranking ladder, looking to gain more visitors and business. But, what exactly is SEO? Here’s an overview…

What is SEO?
Search Engine Optimization is the act of constructing webpages in such a way that your website appears nearer the top of search engine results pages.

This is possible only if the information presented is adequate and relevant to users. Most readers who visit our site have questions regarding ways of solving their unique problems concerning the search rankings.

There are also visitors of our site who don’t know about the reputation management for websites. However, several requests have been made by most individuals who desire to know more about Search Engine Optimization (SEO), and how it came to existence.

Early SEO focused on what is called keyword-packing. The thinking was that the more times a certain keyword was mentioned, the more relevant it would be to the user who searched for that keyword (or phrase). However, once the Internet started to reach maturity, it became obvious that relying on keyword density for search engine optimization was not enough.

How search engines work
In 1997, the Google search engine was developed. The great innovation, which made Google the most popular search engine, was that instead of focusing on keywords, it took other information (especially backlinks) into account. In fact, having too many keywords packed onto a page causes it to be suspicious, and can actually lower its rank.

Today, Google regularly “crawls” the web, visiting, analyzing and reading your website.

Google checks into the links from and to the page. It then uses a top-secret, ever evolving algorithm to determine the best results for the phrase being used to search the desired content. When a user searches for a keyword, Google then comes up with a search list which it submits to the user. The list is in order of most to least relevant.
